Random Ramblings...

Two school shootings this week. One on Wednesday in Colorado. Another today in New Mexico. A student brought a .32ACP handgun to my old high school today in his car trunk (I live in a usually quiet small town, so this is unusual). A school is one of the few places virtually guaranteed to be gunless, except for a few police officers. Unless you are in Israel...

What is it with the jackasses and their cars with speakers blasting obscene music for all to hear? I am fully supportive of your right to listen to your noise pollution in your own home and car, so long as I do not hear it. So turn it down, dammit! I don't want to hear the F-bomb and G-D every time I turn around.

I ordered a set of those Tech-SIGHTS for my 10/22. Report to follow soon as I get them.

I should have been born into a rich family. I want an AR-15, a Garand, and M-14, and an AK very badly...plus something in .50BMG, a Saiga-12 Tromix, an HK G-3, HK G-36, FAL, a couple of 1911's, an occasional Glock, maybe a SIG or two, some HK's, and let's not forget a Cessna Caravan...Might, might be able to get the Garand soon...- It is not a manner of money now, it is parent's willingness (although I am 18, I still live under their roof). Mom just does not understand the thing about the rarity of the Garand driving up prices- I want to get one or maybe even two from CMP right now, before they run out. Garands elsewhere cost $800 and up...

Firing Line

I borrowed my grandfather's Win. 69 .22 rifle yesterday. This is a great rifle. Here are the specs:
24 inch barrel
10 round detachable box magazine. I also have a five round .22 short magazine.
Peep sight
Bolt action

I do not no what year it was made, but it is a pre A model. This rifle is of far better quality than my new Ruger 10/22. It is also has greater accuracy. This is the rifle I learned to shoot with. I then purchased a 10/22 because I wanted a semi-auto that I could customize to my liking. For some reason, the Winchester is a lot more enjoyable to shoot. I do not think that I will be shooting the 10/22 until I can get some of these sights.

Now, I just need to get a lever action and a pump action .22 to complete my battery...and a .22 auto pistol...maybe a good used Ruger MkII...

I shoot the .22 the most because it is the cheapest of all of the calibers. At about 2 cents a shot, compared to 50 cents a shot for my .30-30. The only thing that approaches the cost effectiveness is the 12 gauge shotgun, at $3.50 for a box of 25. I do not reload yet, but I am working on getting the equipment. Being a broke student sucks.

Big Brother is operational...

Continuing their trend to the fictional world of Orwell's 1984 , Britain has added speakers to their cameras. Now, monitors watch you and call you out using the built in speakers if you do something wrong. The transformation is almost complete.

Aviation

Got my permanent private pilot certificate the other day- feels good to finally have it in my hand after a year of hard work. I took the checkride on August 21. I do not plan to make a career in aviation, but it is a great hobby. Now, I can go in search of $100 Hamburgers.

In the beginning...

Well, it seems that as everyone else is doing a blog, I might as well get into this...
I am a college student in my freshman year, and I am majoring in general History. I plan to be a lawyer. My hobbies are shooting, aviation, and reading. Posts on this site will mainly be about firearms and weapons, college life, aviation, good books, and anything else that interests me. You can leave as many comments as you please, and I will not remove them unless your language gets really nasty or you are a spammer.
